As an experienced periodontist, Dr. Alghadban knows all too well how important sedation dentistry is for our patients from throughout the Boerne, TX, area. That’s why we offer a variety of sedation methods – to make our patients feel as comfortable as possible during their appointments. Whether your next procedure will be periodontal treatment from Dr. Alghadban, an orthodontic procedure with Dr. Vo, or a general dentistry visit with The Dentist, sedation dentistry can help you to feel relaxed and at ease throughout.

Is Sedation Dentistry Right for You?
- Nitrous Oxide – For people who experience a mild level of anxiety about their procedure, nitrous oxide (also known as “laughing gas”) can help them to relax. And, just as the name implies, this type of sedation can make you feel just a little giddy. Nitrous oxide is administered here in our office, and the effects wear off quickly, so patients can drive themselves to the appointment and back home again afterward.
- Oral Sedation – For patients who feel very tense or nervous about visiting our office, oral sedation is often a great choice. The patient simply takes an oral medication prior to the appointment. By the time the patient reaches our office, he or she will feel completely relaxed and slightly drowsy. If you choose oral sedation, remember that you’ll need a ride to your appointment, as well as a ride home afterward.
- Conscious IV Sedation – For those people who are extremely frightened of having any type of dental procedure, we offer conscious IV sedation. This method allows the patient to remain awake during the procedure, but feel extremely relaxed. In fact, you may not remember everything that takes place while you’re under conscious IV sedation. This method involves administering the sedation intravenously here in our office, so you’ll be able to drive yourself to your appointment, but you’ll definitely need a ride home later.
